I am interested in the relationship between modern humans and nature. Art is a way to communicate that relationship-the human interaction with the land and also with our own inventions. My work relies on contrast of color and the exploration in the use of traditional mediums in nontraditional ways.
I am also interested in the space that as artists we enter when creating works. I am drawn by the live exchange that happens between the artist and the art.
My fascination is with the “now-ness” of this world and how quickly we enter and leave moments. We became reliant on our own inventions, convinced that we cannot live without them which results in a subtle gap between humans and the Earth, perhaps because of the time we live in. Our impression is firm yet our presence so temporary-we are residents of the moment and it is these moments that I aim to express.
